Ghalieh mahi (قلیهماهی) is a traditional southern Iranian fish stew, associated with the provinces along the Persian Gulf.
It is made with chunks of fish (usually firm, white-fleshed varieties like mahi shekan or hamour), simmered in a herb-rich, tangy sauce made from cilantro, fenugreek, garlic, tamarind paste, and spices. The stew is characteristically sour and aromatic, with a dark green color from the herbs.
Ghalieh mahi is typically served with steamed rice and is a typical dish of southern Iranian coastal cuisine.
