Shahijeera is the Indian name for a spice also called "black cumin" (Bunium persicum), which is related to cumin but is more delicate in flavor than the jeera cumin that is also used in Indian cooking. It is not the same as nigella seed, with which it is frequently confused, especially in Turkish recipes.
