The Sidecar is a cocktail, made with cognac, Cointreau or triple sec, and lemon. It is often prepared with a sugared rim. If it is prepared with dry, freezer-temperature ice, a small amount of chilled water is recommended.
The Sidecar is a classic of 1920s cocktail craft. It is associated in bartending lore with the cocktail scene of Paris and London during these years, and is credibly claimed to have been invented by Pat MacGarray at Buck's Club in London.
